Our Story

We’re Bethel Community Church, a friendly and thriving Bible-centred community in Wigston, Leicester.

Our church is growing in numbers and diversity, bringing together people of all ages, cultures and backgrounds. We want the people of Wigston to live life to the full, so we share the good news about Jesus. Whether you are exploring faith, returning to church or looking for a church family, you are welcome here.

A church with a local story

Our story began in 1940, when missionary Harold Lewis held a tent campaign. Children’s meetings and a church gathering began to meet in a hut where our new Corner building now stands. Members built the present church building themselves, with its first floor opening in 1955.

Since then, generations have found faith in Jesus and shared his love with our community. Today we’re a lively, diverse church, learning from the Bible, praying together and serving our neighbours.

One church. Two welcoming spaces.

Our church on Burleigh Avenue is home to our Sunday gathering. Across the road, The Corner hosts groups for children, young people and the wider community throughout the week.
