Privacy policy
Your privacy matters to us. This notice explains how Bethel Community Church uses information through this website and when you contact us.
Draft for church review before launch · 8 October 2026
Who we are
Bethel Evangelical Free Church, operating as Bethel Community Church, Burleigh Avenue, Wigston, Leicester LE18 1FH, is responsible for the personal information described here. For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, email contact@bethelwigston.com, telephone 0116 2123577 or write to the church.
Information you share
Our contact form asks for your name, email address and message. We also receive information you choose to provide by email or telephone. Providing this information is voluntary, but we may need a way to contact you to answer your enquiry.
Please avoid sending confidential information about health, religious beliefs, safeguarding concerns or children through the general website form. Contact us first to arrange a suitable private conversation. If we need sensitive information for a church activity, we will explain the purpose and appropriate legal basis separately.
Why we use it
We use enquiry details to reply, help you plan a visit and provide the information you request. Our proposed legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact the church and administering the website, balanced against their privacy rights. We do not automatically add enquirers to a mailing list.
Hosting services process technical information such as IP addresses, browser details and security logs to operate and protect the website. Optional cookies rely on your choices as explained in our Cookie policy.
Who can receive your information
Relevant church team members may handle your enquiry. Squarespace hosts the website and provides contact form services; the email service used by the church also processes messages. We do not sell enquiry information. Information may be disclosed where required by law or necessary to protect people or exercise legal rights.
Embedded YouTube content and form protection services can involve Google. External websites, including social media, operate under their own privacy notices. Please see our Cookie policy before using embedded media.
Processing outside the UK
Website and email providers may process information outside the UK. Before launch, the church must confirm the providers, locations and safeguards that apply, and update this notice with the relevant adequacy arrangements or contractual safeguards. You can ask us for details using the contact address above.
How long we keep information
We keep enquiry information only for as long as needed to answer the enquiry, complete relevant follow-up and meet any applicable legal or safeguarding record requirements. The church must confirm its retention schedule before launch. Other church records, such as membership, donations or activity registrations, need their own relevant privacy information.
Your choices and rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can request access to your information, correction, deletion, restricted use or a portable copy, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. If processing relies on consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful use. These rights have legal limits.
Contact us with your request. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Keeping this notice up to date
We will update this page when website services or data practices change. Please contact us if you would like this information in another format.
